On the 11 September 2020, Impact Camp 2 was held at Wesley Methodist School Kuala Lumpur (International) from 2:45pm – 9:00pm at the Dutton Hall. Impact Camp 2 is part of the ongoing Christian Union and Christian Fellowship (CU@CF) initiative to equip the leaders to be godly men and women after God’s heart. A total of 31 students and teachers attended this Camp. The following topics were addressed and the four trainers from Scripture Union assisted with the session.

In session one the facilitator addressed “The Single Issue”. This talk examined the struggles and challenges of singlehood (all of us are single up to some point of our lives, some for a lifetime) and sought to give Biblical guidance on how we as single Christians can find true contentment in Christ and how this impacts the way we use our time, energy and gifts, as well as how we develop other kinds of relationships that He has given us to enjoy and grow in.

The second session was named “To Bae or not to Bae”. The Biblical perspective on Boy Girl Relationships is not a set of rules, or legalistic do’s and don’ts one has to follow. However, there are important truths we should weigh and consider when thinking through the topic of Boy-Girl Relationships in light of its relation to marriage, which is a lifelong commitment. It explored God’s design for Boy Girl Relationships/ marriage, what true love within this relationship should look like and the goal of this relationship.

The third session was about the “Hot Seat Couple” A Christian couple shared their experiences and answered pre-courtship and courtship questions from participants who were divided by gender. The couple took turns to address both gender groups.

Other than the sessions, one of our surprise highlights for the Camp was having our CU@CF boys serve the girls and teachers/trainers to a candlelight dinner accompanied by a delightful performance. This was done to affirm their key roles as brothers in the family of Christ, to Serve, Protect and Honour them. The boys rose to the occasion and truly exemplified their heart to serve that evening.

All in all, the Camp was not just an enjoyable and memorable camp, but it also was eye-opening for many of our leaders to hear this important, but not often talked about, topic on interpersonal relationships for the first time. This camp helped shape the way the CU@CF leaders view relationships in the light of the right Biblical understanding so the leaders continue to make life choices that honour God and others in their lives.
